GENERAL POLICIES

Code of Conduct
The YMCA of Callaway County is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all. To promote safety and comfort, the YMCA asks all persons to act appropriately at all times when in our facilities, on our property or participating in our programs.

We expect persons using the YMCA to act maturely, to behave responsibly, and to respect the rights and dignity of others. The actions listed below, which are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of behaviors, are considered inappropriate and are prohibited in our facilities or programs:

  • No electronic devises to be used in locker rooms (cell phones, cameras, etc.)
  • Using or possessing alcohol or illegal drugs on YMCA property, in YMCA facilities, or at YMCA-sponsored programs
  • No Tobacco on YMCA property – all of our YMCA buildings and grounds are tobacco-free environments 
  • Carrying or concealing a weapon or any device or object that may be used as a weapon
  • Harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or any type of menacing behavior
  • Physical contact with another person in an angry, aggressive, or threatening way
  • Verbally abusive behavior, including profanity, angry language, swearing, name-calling, or shouting
  • Sexually explicit conversation or behavior; any sexual contact with another person
  • Inappropriate, immodest, or sexually revealing attire
  • Theft or behavior that results in loss of YMCA or member/guest property
  • Loitering within facilities or on the grounds of the YMCA after being requested to depart the YMCA’s property
  • Use of social networking websites in a manner that is contrary to the YMCA’s mission, is detrimental to the community or is in violation of the law

Refund Policy
The YMCA reserves the right to cancel any class or program if attendance or registration does not meet the class quota. The full program fee will be returned to those who have paid. A refund will not be given unless the class is cancelled by the YMCA. Membership and Joining Fees are non-refundable.  

Age Guidelines for Facility Use
Ages 8 and Under

  • Parent or guardian at least 15 years of age must be with the child at all times or must be enrolled in a scheduled program or activity, or supervised by Child Watch staff.
  • Are restricted from the Fitness Center.
  • May use Track with guardian.

Ages 9-11

  • Parent or guardian at least 15 years of age must be in the Y at all times, or children must be enrolled in a scheduled program or activity.
  • May play in the gymnasiums while guardian is elsewhere in the facility.
  • Are restricted from the Fitness Center and Track (unless youth strength certified).

Ages 12-14

  • May use the Y facility without parental supervision.
  • Can’t be responsible for another child in the facility under the age of 12.
  • Must go through Youth Strength Training before using any of the exercise equipment in the Fitness Center.

Ages 15-17

  • May use the Y facility without parental supervision.
  • May be responsible for another individual in the facility.

Proper Attire 
Members must wear shirts or workout tank tops and rubber-soled shoes. We suggest members wear an absorbent top to keep equipment free of perspiration and maintain sanitary conditions. Comfortable sweatpants or leggings are recommended. There are no jeans, work-boots, or open-toed shoes allowed on the workout floor.

  • No crop tops or cut off shirts that expose torso/midriff, nipples, or navel
  • Items meant to be undergarments are not allowed to be worn alone
  • No leggings or shorts that expose the buttock
  • No clothing with obscene language or images

Lost and Found
The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen property. However, we do keep lost and found items whenever possible. Our Lost and Found is located at the Welcome Center. All items found in the YMCA will be kept for at least 14 days before being recycled for charitable purposes.

Accidents, Injuries
All cases of accident, injury or unusual incidents should be reported to a staff person on duty or to the front desk. The YMCA assumes no responsibility for injuries incurred while participating in YMCA activities.

Weather Related Closings
In the event of inclement weather, the YMCA will make every effort to continue services at our facility. However, in certain conditions when safety becomes a concern, facility closure and program cancellations may be necessary. Information regarding building closures will be publicized through social media (Facebook & Instagram), & Textcaster.
